Christenings & Naming Ceremonies
We can provide a stunning setting for christenings and naming ceremonies. Our 19th century Chapel which accommodates up to 40 guests, contains a 16th century font believed to have been used at the baptism of Mary Queen of Scots. This font is available for your family christening.
Your naming ceremony can be held in any of our 8 historic rooms depending on the size of your party.
Memorials & Funerals
Newbattle Abbey is an exceptional venue to hold your memorial or funeral. The building is particularly calm and spiritual and situated in peaceful and tranquil surroundings. This is the perfect setting to celebrate the life of someone special. The choice of one of our eight rooms will depend on the number of your guests.
This is an occasion when you may wish to share special memories with family and friends. We can arrange audio visual equipment for your own music and presentation at no extra cost.
Afternoon Teas & Catering
We recommend a relaxed Afternoon Tea, in peaceful surroundings, far from the hustle and bustle. In a room overlooking our stunning Italian Garden, we offer a selection of signature sandwiches, freshly baked scones with all the trimmings and a selection of mini cakes, all served with your choice of freshly brewed tea or fresh ground coffee.
Our in-house catering team is experienced in preparing menus for different occasions, ranging from a simple buffet to a formal five-course dinner. We always use fresh, local and seasonal produce wherever possible, with herbs and vegetables often coming from our own gardens. We can cater for any dietary needs.
There is an option to use external caterers for larger occasions.
